Search ends for missing swimmer

The search has ended for a swimmer who disappeared in rough ocean conditions offshore of Kehena Beach on Sunday. 29-year old Eric T. Dietz, also known as “Eroz” and “Arrows,” apparently encountered difficulties returning to shore around 2:40 p.m. and was last seen about 100 yards offshore after a body boarder tried unsuccessfully to reach him. The Coast Guard suspended its search for Dietz Monday evening, and the Hawai`i County Fire Department called off its effort Wednesday afternoon after finding no trace of the missing man.
