Missing swimmer identified

By Ken Hupp - 67AM KPUA News

Police have identified the swimmer who disappeared in rough ocean conditions offshore of Kehena Beach on Sunday as a 29-year old homeless man. Eric T. Dietz also known as “Eroz” and “Arrows” is described as Caucasian, 5-foot-11, 150 pounds with hazel eyes, brown hair, facial hair, and a multi-colored tattoo on his upper right arm that depicts a bird, spider and a tortoise shell. Dietz apparently encountered difficulties returning to shore around 2:40 p.m. and was last seen about 100 yards offshore after a
body boarder tried unsuccessfully to reach him. The Coast Guard suspended its search for Dietz Monday evening. The Hawai`i County Fire Department is continuing its search today.
