Police arrest 19 for drunk driving

Police arrested 19 motorists for drunk driving during the first week of the year ending on January 6, 2013. The year to date total is one more, or 5.6 percent more than the 18 nabbed during the same period last year. There have been 13 major accidents so far this year, which is a decline of 40.9 percent from the 22 at this time a year ago. Thus far, there are no traffic fatalities on Hawai`i Island compared with none during the same period last year.
