Autopsy says shooting victim died from blood loss

Preliminary autopsy results have determined that a 32-year old man whose body was found in the area of Mo`oheau Park in downtown Hilo Saturday evening died from blood loss due to multiple gunshot wounds. Police are also awaiting additional toxicology findings in the death of Faafetai Fiu. No suspect or motive has been identified at this time and police say they want to interview fisherman who frequent the area or anyone who may have witnessed the crime. They especially want to speak with anyone who witnessed a confrontation near a silver or light-colored vehicle that was parked on the makai shoulder of the highway just makai of the Mo`oheau ball field If you have any information, contact Detective Robert Almeida at 961-2386, Detective Norbert Serrao at 961-2383 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
