HONOLULU (AP) — A new Coast Guard ship has arrived in Hawaii.
The Cutter Morgenthau is replacing the Cutter Jarvis, which was taken out of active service in October.
The Morgenthau arrived at its new homeport of Honolulu on Monday.
The crews of the two ships officially swapped boats during a change of command ceremony in November.
The 43-year-old ship has a long history. It conducted naval gunfire support and patrol duties during the Vietnam War. In 1977, the Morgenthau became the first cutter to have women permanently assigned on board.
