Puna murder victim identified

The man found dead at his Nanawale Estates subdivision home on Sunday has been identified as 54-year old James V. Johns. Lieutenant Greg Esteban said Johns had suffered severe head injuries and officers have recovered what they believe to be the murder weapon. 36-year old Jason Russell Jump, a tenant who lived in a separate building on Johns’ property, was arrested Monday on suspicion of second degree murder. An autopsy has determined that Johns died of a brain injury caused by blunt force trauma.
