Hiker rescued from Iao Valley State Park

WAILUKU, Hawaii (AP) — A man visiting from California was rescued from Iao Valley State Park on Maui after breaking his ankle. Maui rescue personnel brought the 44-year-old man from Blackhawk, Cal., out by helicopter on Tuesday afternoon. They hiked for about 45 minutes along a trail and were above the lookout when they found the man. The man was airlifted by helicopter to a landing area and taken by ambulance to the Maui Memorial Medical Center. His injuries were not life-threatening.
