Police investigate death in house fire

Police are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a home in Honoka`a and the discovery of a woman’s body inside the house. Police and fire personnel responded to a reported structure fire in Āhualoa around 8:21 p.m. Tuesday and arrived to find the house on Kahana Drive fully engulfed in flames. Police determined there was an occupant of the residence that was unaccounted for, but was later discovered after the fire was extinguished. Detectives have not released the victim’s identity and have ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
