University of Hawaii to name new athletic director

HONOLULU (AP) — The University of Hawaii plans to name its new athletic director on Friday. The university, in a news release Thursday, said Manoa Chancellor Tom Apple had met with each of two finalists for the job. A university spokeswoman says Apple has pledged to keep the identities of candidates confidential. The successful candidate will replace Jim Donovan, who was given a new post following a bungled concert and athletic department fundraiser, after he threatened to sue if he wasn't reinstated as athletic director.
