Pedestrian on Maui struck by vehicle and killed

WAILUKU, Hawaii (AP) — A person crossing the street in Kahului on Maui has been killed. The Maui News says the man was crossing Kaahumanu Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday near the Maui Beach Hotel when he was struck by a vehicle. Maui Police Department spokesman Lt. Wayne Ibarra says the man was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center where he died. The man's identity has not been released.
