Man arrested for domestic dispute/arson

A 45-year-old Pāhoa man has been arrested in connection with a Sunday evening domestic dispute and fire that destroyed a home in Hawaiian Beaches. Police on Monday arrested Peter Lopes, who witnesses say had threatened to set fire to the house and charged him with terroristic threatening, arson, assault and promoting a detrimental drug. Lopes and a 41-year old Pāhoa woman, reportedly exited the home prior to the fire and were uninjured, although the suspect had a head injury unrelated to the fire when he was later found at a nearby home.
