Hawaii high court to hear case in Maui

HONOLULU (AP) — The Hawaii Supreme Court will make a rare appearance on Maui this week. The Hawaii State Judiciary says in a news release that this is believed to be the first time the high court has convened on the island to hear a case since the mid-1800s. The trip is part of the judiciary's Courts in the Community program, which is aimed at educating students and the public about the role of the judiciary branch. Oral arguments will be heard Thursday in a drug case, and held at the Henry Perrine Baldwin High School auditorium in Wailuku.
