Tourism continues strong 2012 performance

Hawai`i’s visitor industry continues to outperform expectations, prompting the state to once again raise it’s economic growth forecast. The state is expected to host 7.9 million visitors this year, who are on track to spend $14.56 billion dollars, which represent gains of 9.4 and 18.8 percent from 2011. Overall state domestic product is forecast to grow by 1.6 percent this year and 2.4 percent in 2013, which is up a tenth of a percent from the previous forecast.
