UH president, regents vow to work together

By Associated Press

HONOLULU (AP) The University of Hawaii president has apologized for sending a letter to the Board of Regents asking for a $2 million payout to leave her duties.

M.R.C. Greenwood says the request has been withdrawn and she has no plans to bring legal action against the university or the board.

Greenwood and the board issued a joint statement Thursday acknowledging that the Stevie Wonder concert debacle in August had created a strain. But, they say they are committed to working together and providing better communication and transparency when leading the university to avoid future mishaps.

The university was scammed out of $200,000 when the athletics department tried to hold the fundraiser concert.

A task force looking into the debacle said those involved in financial transactions for the concert lacked judgment.
