JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii (AP) — A new leader will take over at the Hawaii-based military command that searches for and identifies Americans from past conflicts.
Air Force Maj. Gen. Kelly McKeague will assume command of the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command on Wednesday. He'll take over from Army Maj. Gen. Stephen Tom during a change of command ceremony at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
McKeague will be the first Air Force general officer to command JPAC.
Most recently he served as an assistant to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for National Guard issues.
Both McKeague and Tom graduated from Hawaii schools.
McKeague attended Damien Memorial School and Tom attended Punahou School.
