Hilo woman charged with driving stolen vehicle

A 28-year-old Hilo woman has been charged with driving a stolen vehicle. Police say Sasha Leinani Shelly Soares was arrested in Puna’s Nanawale Estates subdivision on Sunday (October 21) after she was seen operating a Jeep Wrangler that was reported stolen during a burglary in Kailua-Kona on October 17. Soares was charged this week with one count of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle and bail was set at $10,000.
