Coast Guard copter lands because of laser pointer

HONOLULU (AP) — Coast Guard officials say a helicopter was forced to land after someone pointed a laser pointer at the aircraft. Authorities say a rescue swimmer and flight mechanic were hinderd in their abilities to perform their duties after the incident Tuesday night. Coast Guard officials say the MH-65 helicopter was forced to return to its air station. Officials say when laser pointers target helicopters, crews are taken off flight duty for a minimum of 24 hours.
