The Hawai‘i Tourism Authority and the Japan Association of Travel Agents have signed an agreement aimed at increasing Japanese arrivals in Hawai`i to two million in 2016. The “Hawai`i Two Million Visitors Initiative,” takes effect on January 1, 2013
and will enhance destination promotions to achieve its goals. Industry experts say two million arrivals from Japan would generate an estimated $4 billion in annual visitor spending and $440 million in state tax revenue.
