Hilo wins Friday night showdown

The high school football bragging rights for Hilo will reside at Hilo High this year. The Vikings won their showdown under the Friday Night lights against cross-town rival Waiakea with a 38-21 victory at Wong Stadium. Friday’s other action saw Konawaena score the second most points ever in high school competition with a 91-8 trouncing of Ka`u, and Kealakehe kept Kea`au winless with a 53-0 victory over the Cougars. In Saturday’s lone contest, Kamehameha topped Honoka`a 40-30.
