Man killed in Big Island accident

HILO, Hawaii (AP) — Big Island police are investigating a crash in Glenwood in which one of the drivers was killed.
Police told Hawaii News Now that the accident occurred on Highway 11 near the Hirano Store around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Police say a station wagon and a van collided when the station wagon made an abrupt left turn into the store and the van struck the car from behind.
The station wagon's driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the driver of the van was a 33-year-old woman who was taken to Hilo Medical Center.
The accident caused part of Highway 11 to be temporarily closed in both directions at the 22 mile marker.
