Papaikou Mill Access subject of public hearing brief

A public hearing on the Papaikou Mill Road and Beach Access issue will be held tonight at the Papaikou Gym starting at 5:00 p.m. Tensions between the owners and community have been simmering since the owners fenced off the path and limited access after making improvements. Tonight’s hearing follows Tuesday’s Council Finance Committee consideration of a resolution by Council Chairman Dominic Yagong to seize the property by eminent domain. Council members took no action, but owner James Waugh says he’ll propose an alternative to Yagong’s proposal at the hearing.
