Witnesses sought in Monday motorcycle fatality

Police are looking for the operator of a gray sedan or anyone who may have witnessed Monday’s motorcycle crash at the 28-mile marker of Akoni Pule Highway that claimed the life of a 32-year old Utah woman. Jennie Wahlstrom of North Kaysville, Utah was fatally injured when the 2012 Harley Davidson operated by her husband and heading northwest, swerved to avoid a car that crossed the centerline and traveled 150 feet down a gulch. Neither rider was wearing a helmet. Police have launched a negligent homicide investigation into the accident which raised the Big Island’s traffic death toll for 2012 to 31, compared to 16 at this time last year.
