NOAA warns of high surf on all islands

By Associated Press

HONOLULU (AP) The National Weather Service is maintaining a high surf warning for the north and west facing shores from Kauai to Maui through 6:00 p.m. due to large waves that could lead to rough surf and deadly rip tides that would make it dangerous to
swim. Forecasters say swells could build to up to 30 feet high along north-facing shores and up to 20 feet along west-facing shores. A high surf advisory is also in effect for the
northeast and west-facing shores of the Big Island, where surf heights are expected to range from 6-8 feet. Officials also expect sand that has built up on beaches over the summer to erode.
