UH swimmer from Hilo dies

Family, friends and teammates are mourning the death of University of Hawai`i swimmer “Peter” Frank Chi of Hilo, who died on Saturday from an apparent cardiac arrest. The 19-year old Waiakea High School graduate was found unresponsive in his dorm room during the early morning hours and was taken to Straub Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Chi had earlier been diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, and was honored this past spring with the Inspiration Award at the annual ‘Ahahui Koa’ Anuenue scholarship dinner for overcoming his illness and setting a positive example for others.
