HI Senate committee holds 2nd Wonder show hearing

HONOLULU (AP) — A panel of state lawmakers are holding a second hearing into the University of Hawaii's botched plans for a Stevie Wonder concert that led to the school losing $200,000 in a fraudulent wire transfer.
The Tuesday hearing at the state Capitol is expected to include UH Manoa Chancellor Tom Apple, three board of regents members and Rich Sheriff, manager of the Stan Sheriff Center.
The show was supposed to raise funds for the athletic department. But it never happened because the money went to the wrong people. Stevie Wonder and his representatives never authorized the show.
University President M.R.C. Greenwood told the Senate Special Committee on Accountability that the school created a $200,000-a-year position for its former athletics director because of pressure to reinstate him after the university investigated.
