The County Department of Parks of Recreation and Office of Aging in Kohala has a new home and an expanded variety of programs courtesy of Bank of Hawai`i. A blessing and dedication was held this week for the former bank building on Akoni Pule Highway near the Kamemahema Statue and North Kohala Civic Center in Kapa`au, which was donated to the County earlier this year. The building, which was constructed around 1900 will retain its automated teller machine and depository out front. It also features a new photovoltaic system installed after the building was severely damaged in the October 2006 earthquake.
