Special Council Session Canceled

A special executive session to discuss defense of the county in a potentially high stakes lawsuit filed by two fired elections workers was abruptly canceled Tuesday. Corporation Counsel Lincoln Ashida had told the council in March that he and his entire staff had a conflict of interest and couldn’t represent the county in what were then non-court claims. The issue took another twist this month when an actual lawsuit was filed and Yagong wanted to know whether outside counsel should be hired. But Yagong said Deputy Corporation Counsel Laureen Martin unexpectedly canceled a Monday meeting he had scheduled to discuss the matter
