Police arrest 26 for drunk driving

The Police Department’s drunk driving dragnet hauled in 26 motorists for driving under the influence during the week ending September 23, 2012. A total of 1,025 have been arrested so far this year, which is down 4.7 percent from the 1,076 apprehended at this time a year ago. 1,065 major accidents have been recorded, which is up 4.7 percent from 1,017 a year ago. And this year’s 30 fatalities are up 87.5 percent over the 16 that had taken place by this time last year.
