An investigation is underway to determine what caused the fire that did $80,000 damage to a small room at the Hawaiian Host macadamia nut factory in Captain Cook Sunday. Fire crews were notified of the fire shortly after 5:20 p.m. and arrived
to discover smoke coming out of the vents and eaves of the first floor sampling room. Firefighters had the fire under control in just 18 minutes and were able to contain the blaze to the room with two macadamia nut roaster ovens. The employees were evacuated
and no injuries were reported.
