Solar red tape reduced

If you’ve been thinking about installing solar panels on your home, you can soon do so with a little less red tape. As of October 1st, most residential and some commercial customers of Hawai`i Electric Light Company, Hawaiian Electric and Maui Electric
can install single-phase PV systems up to 10 kilowatts on single-phase transformers with potentially no interconnection study. In addition, any customer of the three companies who previously paid for an interconnection study and system upgrades to install a 10 kW or smaller single-phase PV system will be refunded the cost of the study and any upgrades
