Maui police seek driver in fatal hit, run crash

PAIA, Hawaii (AP) — Maui police are looking for the driver of a car in a fatal hit and run crash.
Police say a man's body was found in the middle of Paia Bypass Road on Sunday night. He appears to have been struck by a vehicle traveling east that fled the scene.
The man's identification is pending notification of next of kin.
Police believe the vehicle to be a 1997 or 1998 Mitsubishi Galant with front-end damage. It will be missing at least one of the black plastic grill pieces above the front license plate.
This is Maui County's 19th traffic fatality this year, compared to 12 at the same time last year.
