Dump truck spills load

Traffic was temporarily halted Tuesday along Leilani Street between the East Hawai`i Landfill and James W. Glover. Fire personnel say a dump truck hauling aggregate tipped over on its passenger side shortly after 1:00 p.m. The driver was able to escape from the vehicle without injury. An unknown amount of diesel and oil spilled onto the roadway, which was cleaned up by hazmat crews before re-opening to traffic. The cause is under investigation.
