HONOLULU (AP) — The University of Hawaii and the University of Southern California would like to extend its football series.
USC athletics officials say the Trojans would be open to continuing the series. Hawaii Acting Athletic Director Rockne Freitas says he would also like to see an extension.
The Trojans beat the Warriors 49-10 on Saturday. USC has won all eight matchups in a series that began in 1930. USC's 2010 Aloha Stadium appearance remains the most lucrative home game in Hawaii history.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported Wednesday the Trojans are a natural draw for Hawaii, where there are a lot of USC alumni. An NCAA-enacted rule allows a team that travels to play Hawaii to schedule an extra home game, to generate enough revenue to cover travel costs.
