Members call for coaches ouster from A.D. search panel

Some members of a committee that will help choose the University of Hawai`i's next athletics director want three coaches removed from the panel because they endorsed a candidate before the search process has even begun. Football Coach Norm Chow, Women’s Volleyball Coach Dave Shoji and Women’s Basketball Coach Laura Beeman were among 44 coaches and assistants signing a petition asking that acting athletics director Rockne Freitas be immediately appointed to the permanent AD post. UH Manoa faculty senate head Bonnyjean Manini, who also serves on the panel said theiraction undermines the committee’s objectivity.
