Two more die on Big Island highways

By Ken Hupp - 67AM KPUA News

A deadly year on Big Island highways continued this week as two accidents since Wednesday have raised the traffic death toll for 2012 to 23. A 39-year old Kurtistown man died Thursday morning after he was ejected from his southbound vehicle, which
overturned between the 48 and 49-mile marker on Highway 11 around 12:40 a.m. The victim was taken to Kona Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:19 a.m. A 21-year old Kealakekua man also died Thursday from injuries he received when his eastbound vehicle overturned after rear-ending a moped at the intersection of
Kealakehe Parkway and Ane Keahokalole Highway shortly before 8:00 a.m. Wednesday. He died around 4:00 a.m. at Queens Medical Center in Honolulu. Police say alcohol was a factor in the crash. Neither victim has been identified.
