HONOLULU (AP) — The Transportation Security Administration will pay a financial settlement to a former Honolulu airport official who appealed his firing.
Hawaii News Now reports that Glen Kajiyama's attorney says the TSA settled the case days before a hearing was scheduled last month. Kajiyama was in charge of TSA operations at the Honolulu International Airport and was among dozens of employees fired or suspended last year after an investigation found workers did not screen checked bags for explosives.
Attorney Elbridge Smith says Kajiyama did nothing wrong. He'll be allowed to retire later this month and receive full benefits.
A TSA spokesman declined to comment on the settlement.
Citing a confidentiality agreement, Smith wouldn't disclose the amount.
