LIHUE, Hawaii (AP) — Federal prosecutors say agents found an arsenal of unregistered firearms in the home of a Kauai postal worker.
Troy Hamura is charged with firearms offenses after an unregistered fully automatic machine gun and 18 other firearms were taken from his Lihue home.
Prosecutors say documents show Hamura used the postal service to intercept a rifle he ordered from a Florida gun dealer, using someone else's federal firearms license without permission. Prosecutors say he sold the weapon without registering it.
During a search of his home this week, agents seized 30 registered firearms and more than 23,000 rounds of ammunition.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports a judge ordered Hamura released to an Oahu halfway house when space is available.
He couldn't be reached for comment Friday.
