HONOLULU (AP) — A Wahiawa man released from prison last year after serving time for sexually molesting boys he coached in a soccer league is involved in youth soccer again.
The Honolulu Star Advertiser reports that Frederick Rames is associated with the Wahiawa Soccer Club, which held indoor soccer matches in February and March involving about 45 to 50 elementary schoolchildren.
Rames told the newspaper that he is not coaching players, but is only helping to run the indoor league.
The 71-year-old Rames had been a longtime coach and organizer in the Wahiawa soccer community before pleading no contest in 2007 to third-degree sexual assault of six boys.
Officials say because he served his full five-year sentence, Rames is not supervised by a parole agent, and doesn't have restrictions placed on him that parolees might have.
