Former State Civil Defense Vice Director Ed Texeira will be joining the faculty of Chaminade University to head the school’s homeland security leadership program. Texerira says he hopes to bring in national and local homeland security experts he's personally worked with. He stepped down from his position at Civil Defense last year, citing unspecified, forthcoming changes he did not agree with. Teixeira stepped down from civil defense last year. Teixeira was responsible for coordinating day-to-day emergency management and homeland security, including emergency response efforts such as the March 2011 tsunami warning.
