HI prosecutors oppose moving agent's murder case

HONOLULU (AP) — Honolulu prosecutors are opposing an attempt to move to federal court a case involving a federal agent charged in a shooting death at a Waikiki McDonald's.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Janice Futa's response to Christopher Deedy's motion to move the case out of state court says the defense had ample time to make the request. Deedy's attorney filed his motion last month and the shooting took place in November.
Futa says attempting to move the case to federal court amounts to "forum shopping," and that there is no reason to further delay trial, which is scheduled for September.
The defense argues federal court would be in a better position to move the case to another federal district if Deedy can't get a fair and impartial jury in Honolulu.
