HOVE shooter to make court appearance today

A 61-year old Ka`u man is scheduled to make his initial court appearance today after being charged in a Sunday afternoon shooting in Ocean View. John O’Leary of Hawaiian Ocean View Estates was charged on Tuesday with attempted murder, second-degree assault and eight firearms offenses. Police say O’Leary opened fire during a dispute with a 66-year old man who suffered a wound to his upper thigh and was struck with a baseball bat. O’Leary was being held at the Kona Police cell block in lieu of $68,000 bail.
