A Mountain View man is being sought for second degree attempted murder in connection with a reported shooting on Tuesday.
Police say a 39-year old Mountain View woman got into a verbal confrontation with a man at his home on Overview Road around 3:30 p.m. where she had gone to retrieve her property. The victim told police she heard what sounded like a gunshot as she was
leaving, and turned toward the suspect, who allegedly pointed what looked like a firearm at her and fired another round. The victim escaped injury and reported the incident to police who want to question 47-year old James Gannon Coffey, who is already being sought on an outstanding arrest warrant. Coffey, who may be armed and is considered dangerous is described as a Caucasian male, 5’10” tall, weighing about 150 pounds, with hazel eyes and short graying hair. If you have any information on his whereabouts, contact officer Joel Field at 961-2381 or Crime Stoppers in Hilo (961-8300) or Kona (329-8181)
