Nearly 2,400 students statewide will no longer be offered school bus service in the coming school year. In all, 103 routes serving 51 schools (including 20 elementary schools) statewide will be affected by the cuts, which are part of an effort to close a
$17 million budget shortfall for student transportation. No East Hawai`i service will be terminated, but two routes serving 96 students at Waikoloa Elementary and Middle
School will be cut.
