Ane Keohokalole Highway opened

Kona’s newest highway is now open to traffic following Saturday’s noontime blessing. The 2.9 mile Ane Keohokalole Highway, located a mile mauka of Queen Kaahumanu Highway runs from Palani Road to Hina Lani Street in Kaloko. The highway cost $30.5 million and is expected to be a vital part of the state’s new Kamakana Village affordable housing project. It is also the first major road in Kona to be built by Hawai‘i County since statehood.
