The National Weather Service has lifted the wind advisories and warnings that had been in effect for the Big Island on Monday, but not before the winds made their presence felt. The strong winds toppled six ironwood trees in Waimea. One smashed a blue pickup
truck, while another narrowly missed a home. But the highest winds occurred at the top of Mauna Kea where a gust of 98 miles per hour was recorded.
