|
| (Honolulu-AP) -- Honolulu police believe they've arrested a serial bank robber dubbed the ``uncle bandit.''
They say Detective Brian Johnson arrested the man yesterday at Salt Lake Shopping Center as he apparently cased a bank. Johnson had been waiting for the bank to open to conduct an interview.
Robbery detectives cross-deputized as federal agents were preparing a federal complaint against the suspect for the May seventh robbery of the First Hawaiian Bank branch at 433 Kapahulu Avenue.
The ``uncle bandit'' is also suspected in six other bank robberies dating back to last August first.
