Man charged with kidnapping
|

A Kona man has been charged with kidnapping and other offenses brought to light during
a shoplifting investigation. Police last Tuesday were dispatched to a chain store on
Mak`ala Street where a 29-year old Kona man and a 21-year old Kona woman were
being detained for shoplifting. Officers learned that the pair had entered the home
of a 23-year old Volcano man, demanded drugs, threatened him and drove him to the
store, where he got away, told police what had happened and that the male assailant had
used his name when apprehended.
Dane Frank Kendrick was charged with shoplifting, terroristic threatening, kidnapping,
and promoting a dangerous drug. He missed his initial court appearance on Friday due
to treatment for an undisclosed condition at Hilo Medical Center. His accomplice,
Angelea Maldonado was charged with shoplifting
