Gov. Lingle appoints Charles Jencks to Land Use Commission

HONOLULU (AP) — Gov. Linda Lingle has appointed former Maui County official Charles Jencks to serve as an interim commissioner on the state Land Use Commission.
Jencks will replace Ransom "Randy" Piltz, who resigned July 2 to run for Maui County mayor.
Jencks will complete Piltz's term, which expires next June 30.
Lingle says she's worked closely with Jencks when she was mayor of Maui and over the past eight years as governor.
Jencks served as director of the Maui County Department of Public Works and Waste Management from 1995 to 2000.
He is currently a partner with Second & Peck Real Estate LLC.
He's also the owner's representative for Honuaula Partners LLC, which is developing the Honuaula housing project in South Maui.
