HONOLULU (AP) — The White House has announced President Barack Obama's nomination of Gervin K. Miyamoto to be the U.S. marshal in Hawaii.
Miyamoto has been the law enforcement coordinator for the U.S. attorney's office in Honolulu since 1999.
Before that, Miyamoto was a member of the Honolulu Police Department for 28 years, rising to the rank of lieutenant.
From 1996 to 1999, Miyamoto was activated to serve with the Hawaii Air National Guard as its counterdrug coordinator. He served with the Hawaii Army National Guard from 1968 to 1970.
Miyamoto earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Chaminade University in 1980 and an associate's degree in Police Science from Honolulu Community College in 1976.
