HILO, Hawaii (AP) — Big Island police say they've solved two unrelated burglaries that resulted in the loss of computers from public schools in the South Kohala District.
The department said Tuesday that two Kamuela boys, ages 14 and 16, were arrested last Thursday and charged with burglary.
They are accused of stealing eight laptop computers valued at $3,600 from Waimea Middle School. The burglary was reported Nov. 6.
In the other case, a 16-year-old Waikoloa boy was arrested Dec. 11 and charged with burglary in connection with the theft of a laptop computer and a desktop computer from Waikoloa Elementary School in September.
Those were valued at $5,600.
Police recovered the computers stolen in both burglaries.
